Week of July 26-August 1, 1969

A month prior to the start of the 1969-1970 TV season, this local TV supplement featured the Banana Splits on the front cover, and also included a page on NBC's fall 1969 Saturday morning lineup with quotes from Sid and Marty Krofft (producers of "H.R. Pufnstuf"), Ivan Tors (producer of the adventure series "Jambo") and the animation team of David DePatie and Friz Freleng (producers of "The Pink Panther" and "Here Comes The Grump"), promoting three new series which premiered that fall. The Sour Grapes Girls (with dance instructor Byron Gilliam) are pictured (although no new segments with the Sour Grapes were produced for Season 2), as are The Pink Panther and a slightly different-looking H.R. Pufnstuf with Jack Wild (probably predating the actual filming of the series). The story mentions "Arabian Knights," "Danger Island" and "Micro-Venture" as returning segments on "The Banana Splits Adventure Hour," as well as "an additional animated series, with the title still to be announced." (The additional cartoon segment would be "The Hillbilly Bears," repeated from Hanna-Barbera's "Atom Ant" show.) Photos used on the cover are from Season 1. (Click on an image to enlarge.)
